Aaron Dawson, CPA

Aaron Dawson, President of Opsahl Dawson

MANAGING SHAREHOLDER, DIRECTOR OF TAX

“My clients are good at making money; my job is to make sure they keep their hard earned cash.”

If you ask Aaron how he learned to lead a team he’ll jokingly explain, “It comes naturally to me, I am the oldest of three boys, and I’ve been showing my younger brothers the ropes for years!” Aaron has moved our firm into the next generation by bringing vision, technology, and paperless practices to our firm. He naturally possesses the coveted “Servant Leadership” style and is eager to coach his clients and firm members through any challenge. Aaron’s number one goal as head of the tax department is to leverage his knowledge of tax law to reduce each client’s tax bill as much as possible.

Aaron became President of our firm and head of the tax department in 2009 when he and his wife Jen assumed second generation ownership of our thirty year old firm. Born and raised in Longview, Aaron graduated from Western Washington University. He joined our firm after eight years’ experience with large Seattle firms, most recently as a Tax Manager with the regional CPA firm Clark Nuber. Aaron’s experience in manufacturing, real estate, and construction makes him a valuable advisor.

If you are brave enough to join Aaron outside of work, you might find yourself on any number of adventures. It may be hiking the Willapa Hills in search of the elusive Roosevelt Elk, white water rafting down the Deschutes River, fishing any of our majestic local rivers, or racing down Mt. Hood’s black diamond ski slopes. Admittedly, his favorite adventure is raising his three daughters, Jade, and twins Sadie and Brynley with his beautiful wife, Jen. Aaron also enjoys volunteering his time to help local organizations. He was instrumental in balancing the budget as head of the finance committee at Longview’s beloved Columbia Theatre from 2010 – 2013. Aaron continues to be involved in the Columbia Theatre today.
