Jori Scruggs-Brown, CPA

Jori was born in Fontana, California (hometown of her favorite rock star, Sammy Hagar). Her parents packed up their young family and moved to Washington in the 1970s where they have been ever since. Jori knew she wanted to be an accountant while taking her first accounting class at Kelso High School. After graduation, Jori attended Lower Columbia College for her Associates degree and then Portland State University where she received her Bachelor of Science, Business Administration & Accounting degree.

Jori obtained her CPA license while working at George Opsahl, PS in 1993. In 1999 she decided to join PeaceHealth’s Accounting and Finance team. After 15 years in hospital finance, she took the opportunity to become a shareholder at Futcher Group, PS. and enjoyed building relationships with her clients. In 2020 she scaled back her role to manager and focused on working with staff and reviewing tax and financial statement projects. She feels like she has come full circle now, joining Opsahl Dawson in 2023.

In her free time, Jori enjoys cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. She has summited Mt. St. Helens four times and loves the Pacific Northwest outdoors. Jori and her husband have three grown sons and a cat named Kevin. Even though she is a cat mom, Jori loves dogs and supports Fences for Fido, an organization which builds fences to get dogs off chains. Jori has served on several non-profit boards over the years and is currently a member of Kelso Rotary Club and is the Rotary Foundation of Kelso’s Treasurer.
