Luis Rodriguez, MBA


Luis originally came from Mexico City, and graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) with a 5 year bachelor’s degree in accounting. He was granted a scholarship to play American Football (yes!, Mexicans play American football), he took different grad courses at “Tec de Monterrey” including marketing, finance, and budgeting & planning. In 2007 he decided to move to North Carolina and work as an accountant for one of the biggest contractor companies in the area. In 2012 Luis finished his MBA program at North Carolina Central University. During that time, he was part of a nonprofit organization that promoted cultural events to share the beauty of the Latino cultural heritage. After spending a few years going back to Mexico to work in a family business, Luis decided to move to the West Coast and started working as an accountant for one of the largest management & development companies in Vancouver producing financial statements for a portfolio of 15 senior living facilities located all across the US and Canada.

Then, it was the time to work on getting his CPA certification switching to pursue a public accountant career at Opsahl Dawson where he landed an internship for the 2018 tax season.

When he is not studying for the exam, Luis is a yoga practitioner and an electronic music enthusiast. So far, he has traveled and visited around 12 countries while learning and enjoying from different cultures and people around the world.
