Tommy grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and was a varsity athlete on his high school football and baseball teams. Tommy earned the opportunity to continue his baseball career at Samford University. After one year at Samford, he transferred to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) where he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Upon graduating from UAB, Tommy began working for his father’s regional CPA firm in the tax department while specializing in individuals and small businesses. Seeking to make a name for himself, Tommy pursued a career in the banking and advertising industries. However, Tommy missed the interaction and relationships he had developed while working in public accounting and so joined a regional CPA firm. He has been in public accounting since that time, specializing in tax for individuals and small businesses.
Tommy enjoys spending time with his family and traveling. He served as a coach for his sons’ youth baseball and football teams. He also has served as President of the Birmingham chapter of the ASCPA, Treasurer of Oak Mountain Youth Baseball and Softball, and as head of various Finance Committees for nonprofit organizations.
