Jessica began her career in public accounting in 2007 after graduating magna cum laude from the University of Georgia with her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She earned her CPA license in 2009 while working with a regional Georgia CPA firm where she gained both financial statement auditing and tax experience.
After a brief stent working in higher education at Auburn University, she returned to public accounting at a local Alabama firm. She worked as a tax manager for 5 years just before joining the Opsahl Dawson team. Although she prides herself on being a “well-rounded” CPA, she has developed into a tax specialist particularly related to partnership, S-corporation and individual taxation. She is currently working towards the AICPA’s Personal Financial Specialist credential to more holistically serve clients through tax, retirement, and estate planning.
She enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter roaming their Auburn, Alabama acreage where they are planning to restore longleaf pine and pollinator habitats. You also can find her enjoying local music venues and art museums.
