Ugur Yakut

Ugur was born and raised in the Bavarian city of Nuremberg, Germany. His first name is pronounced “Oo-er” and is of Turkish origin – it means “Luck or Good Omen”. He is fluent in English, German and Turkish. After graduating with his master’s degree from the University of Applied Science in Nuremberg, Ugur began his professional tax career at a German CPA firm. While there, Ugur worked primarily on German individual and business taxes. 

When Ugur moved to the United States in 2018, he continued working as a tax professional, both in Oregon and Washington. He joined Opsahl Dawson in 2021 where his focus is U.S. entity tax returns. He is eager to continue developing his knowledge of U.S. entity taxation and plans to complete his CPA certification.

In his free time, Ugur watches soccer and supports teams such as 1.FC Nuremberg, Besiktas Istanbul and the Portland Timbers. He enjoys hiking and other outdoor activities in the Pacific Northwest. Additionally, he has been traveling around North and South America and loves to explore and discover different places.
